Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil confirmed for Force India seat

So after all the speculation, its clear to one and all that its gonna be Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil who will drive for Vijay Mallya’s Force India team in the 2008 season.

I amot surprised. In fact, that’s the reason why I did not update this blog for the last one month.

Mallya did not want Karthikeyan, or Karthikeyan did not want Mallya. Or both did not want each other. That much is clear  now.

So congrats Mallya, you have your Formula One team, and you have the name India on it - and you have Shah Rukh Khan proudly telling us all to “join the force” sitting on a stool. The graphics are added in later, of course.

So what is Indian about Force India? SRK, Vijay Mallya and India colours. And Kingfisher models. Nothing else.

Perhaps I should not be so negative. Perhaps this is what is good for the teamin the long run. Let me be all bright and shiny.

Giancarlo Fisichella definitely has tons of experience. Adrian Sutil is a tough cookie, damn smart driver. Perhaps between them, they will bring the team up a few notches. Learn to better the car, get some results for a change.

And then, maybe, an Indian driver - maybe Narain karthikeyan, maybe Karun Chandok could plonk themselves in to their seats and do one better than them. After al, putting our only drivers into a car that is at the bottom of the rung is not going to induce much higher patriotism either. For all you know, geting an Indian driver into the car atthis tim might be detrimental for the team’s marketing. We do not like loser teams or cars or drivers anyway, na?

And in 2008, Narain will put up a good show in A1GP so he will be a prize catch for Mallya to. Him raring to come back into f1, and mallya desperately wanting an Indian driver.

We can dream, can’t we?
